Justin Lochner | My first year or two with "hometown bank" as it truly was a hometown bank both my father and grandfather held accounts with them before I, with my little beginnings of a family. Had proudly brought my banking and any financial needs or services to hometown bank. Even when moving from Roanoke to the NRV they were still true to their name and both the employees and even the bank itself so it seemed catered to the working man. Ernestly fulfilling, and wholeheartedly earning and maintaining, not the name but the tittle of "hometown bank". However after the name changed and several employees "moved on" as it were... even with the promise that was spoke to me directly of "they were still keeping things local" there has been nothing but a fleeting memory of "local" ever since the sellout. Not only did the hours chnage but so did the policies, the employees and even the support numbers. In the event that you need help on a holiday or closed day the closest support numbers are based put of Danville. If you are wondering there has never been any hometown bank in Danville....so hows that keeping it local. Who can say why such a successful campaign of providing a wholesome, strong, and supportive financial institution. True to its name in a world where none even dare try to claim such accolades. Even after the merger the stragglers of the original employees have done so much and done so well to make it a true beneficial and pleasant banking experience I do have to credit the ones who have done what they can but also point out that they can only do as those above them allow. Such a frustrating feeling of betrayal is left as the best bank managers such as Jennifer Litton and the like respectively had to jump ship and move on, albeit reluctantly. If it had stayed hometown it would be the world's truest financial institution. Such a shame they fell to corporate greed as all other banks when the last of its kind died woth its name and fell in line the day the sign that once said "Hometown Bank" was taken down. |
Gwen Harris | This is a horrible bank to have an account with. They have a ton of charges. Not very helpful when you have a question or concern. The online banking doesn't have many options and updates extremely slow. So much has changed since it was Hometown Bank. I recommend banking with someone else. I will be closing my account with them. |
Courtney Thomas | I'm sure the people at this branch are lovely, but this bank is terrible. Their online banking system is constantly down, it isn't user friendly, and it's difficult to transfer money. They want you to come into the bank for even the easiest transactions. If you need the convenience of a local bank or a safe deposit box, I suppose they're fine, but their interest rates are terrible and I wouldn't recommend them. |
