Beelel A | Took a signature loan for roughly 11k back in March of 2016 and was signed up for a VOLUNTARY debt protection plan without my consent. This debt protection plan is to cover the payment of your debt in the case of your death...which is pretty stupid. Not only was I signed up for it without my consent, it was the most premium plan they offer. It costs 2.62 per 1000 of your loan a month! So nearly 30 of what I've been paying a month for the past 3 years have been going to a dumb protection plan I didn't sign up for. The monthly amount is reduced over time of repaying your loan because it's based off loan balance but I'd argue it's still that stupid high amount due to that 30 not actually going towards principal of my loan. I only discovered I was signed up for this when I was moving and going through my important documents. I canceled it today but I will not be using this credit union again. I thought the whole point of a law enforcement credit union was so we could have a trustworthy financial institution. Nope. I guess I still need to go over all the very fine print because they're willing to even screw over cops |
