Sadie Jackson | I have been banking with reliance bank for 8 years and I can say that it has gone downhill over the years. When I first opened with the bank they did not have any service fees for the checking or savings accounts. There was also no minimum balance required. That's why I chose this bank when I was 16 years old. However, now they charge 7.00 a month for a checking account. It doesn't matter if you have the simplest option. And 5.00 charge for a savings account if you have less than 100 balance. But that's merely my issues with this bank. A few months ago there was a suspicious charge on my card. I called on a Saturday and was told that there was no way it could be fixed until Monday. And when I called Monday I requested a new debit card and was told that it's not recommended. Then two months after that I had a month where I used my savings account because I was short on cash. And as I was never informed of this feee they started charging if there wasn't 100 in the account, they withdrew the 54 cents I had. I called the bank and left a message, at several locations. No one called me back. Two days later it showed my savings account had been completely closed. I called again and left a message. No one returned my call again. So I called a 3rd time. This is in the time span of 4 days. So no I wasn't spam calling. And I was told that since I did not have the fee they closed my account. I asked why I wasn't informed and they told me it was because there had only been online activity with transfers to and from my checking. I explained that's because I work the same hours they are open. I was basically told that there was nothing they could do. So flash forward to now. I went to close my bank account as I found a new bank. And I was told that since it's already a new month that I will be charged the monthly service fee. It's only the 4th of the month. Annoyed, I just said okay. It's a shame as I used to brag about how great my bank was to people but it's become greedy with 144 in bank fee charges per year see 7 monthly checking fee and 5 monthly savings fee if you do not maintain a 100 balance at all times. That's a lot of money to have a bank account especially when the new bank I've moved to has no fees if you choose estatements. Did you catch that? 0 in fees per year. |
